Patchwork shoulder bag
Patchwork shoulder bag is the latest bag to appear on stripykat. Made from a mixture of woollen fabrics and plaids I sewed the pieces together then top stitched them in green and grey. The back of the bag and the strap is in 100% Sheltland wool in a herringbone design.
It’s a lovely mixture of rich colours from plums, greens and greys. There is an internal pocket in the Shetland wool and the bag is lined in a soft cotton in purple.
I love this bag and I really pleased with the way it turned out so there will definitely be more to follow in this theme.

BBBBRRRRRRR!!
It is that time of year when you think that the worst of the cold weather is going to be over then more comes along to surprise you.
Hot chocolate topped up, cosy cardi and the heating on. stripykat is sewing away trying to bring abit of sunshine to the offering. I am in the process of making three bags, yes three! I have one nearly finished one, sewing buttons on to the other and am cutting out another. Nothing like finishing one thing before moving on to the other. I have so much going on in my head at the moment I am just on creative overload….
Here’s a sneaky preview of one of the bags…..it’s going to be called Patch.

Be Kind to your Kindle
Read any good books recently? The Kindle is as good as your beloved paper back books were in the old days. One of my pet hates is when people fold pages back instead of using a book mark or bend the book so much the spine looks like a bar code. No book likes being treated like that and now we are in the 21st Century the Kindle certainly doesn’t like being mistreated.
So be Kind to your Kindle I am making it official we need to look after the Kindles in this world and give them a proper home when they are not being used. Don’t throw them in the bottom of your bag or pocket. No, instead place them in a snug, made to measure case from stripykat. What more could your Kindle possibly want?

Get in on the secret
If anyone wants to make a clutch bag by stripykat then you need to get your hands on February’s edition of Sewing World magazine.
There is a step by step guide to making a cute clutch, ideal for taking out with you in an evening, big enough for all the essentials but small enough not to look like you are carrying the kitchen sink.
They asked me to make something for Valentine’s Day and I chose some lovely floral fabric and some spotty lining. I will pop the article up next week.

New Kindle cases coming soon
Typical isn’t it? You make a load of cases for one of the world’s best selling e-readers – the Kindle Keyboard – and then they go and make a new one which is just a touch smaller!
A designer’s work is never done – so I have created a new range of handmade Kindle cases which are designed for the new, smaller Kindle. There’s a new sub-category on the site and the new cases will start appearing in the next few days once I’ve photgraphed them.
Speaking of Kindle cases – they’ve been selling like hot cakes. I think people got them for Christmas and are now looking for a nice case to put them in. Who knows?
But anyway, it’s meant that stock has become a little thin over the last week or so. But as I said above, the stripykat sewing machine is working away at full steam and we should have a load more stock soon!

Bad Hair Day
With all this wind we’ve been having lately stripykat is coming to your hairs rescue. Why look like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards when you are out and about when you could simply tie a stripykat hair band round your locks and hey presto you will be looking gorgeous even in winds of up to 100mph.
And to give you a little new year present we’ve reduced them all to just £8 each, I know we do spoil you lovely people don’t we?
Enjoy and get shopping as this is only running through January.

Hippy Happy New Year
Happy New Year all you lovely people. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Santa was good to you all.
We had a great time and luckily for once we managed not to play Scrabble at all! Spending time with our family and friends and speaking to those we wish were nearer to us but it’s a great time to think about what we have and appreciate it.
2012 arrives and we are going into it invigorated, enthusiastic and optimistic. We have a few exciting things up our sleeves or should I say at the bottom of our bags at stripykat for the year ahead so thank you all once again for all your support and here’s to a fun year ahead.
